1979 50 h.p. merc.

I have a 1979 50h.p. Merc.when I start out it goes full speed than it slows down to a trolling speed and won't speed up.I checked my plugs and found 1 wasn't in very tight could that have been he problem,also should I be putting a lead additive in my gas.

Sounds like it is not getting enough fuel. Could be a restriction, fuel pump, carb float valves, etc. No, you don't need lead substitute. The octane rating is what lead was for and it doesn't make any difference how you get there on a two stroke. Just use 87ish and youll be fine.
