1978 Mercury 402

I am hooking up the battery and everything is in check. I have one 3ft wire that I am confused about? it has both a positive and negative attachment but I have no idea where it might hook up. I have hooked the battery up to the Mercontrol and the main plug in into the engine but this last wire remains a mystery?<br /><br />Thanks<br /> Ed

Yes,<br /><br />It looks like an add on. It has a hard plastic ribbed cover over it. I had everything hooked up and got nothing when I turned the key? It might be some corrosion on the prongs?What do you think?<br /><br />Ed
