After looking at the pictures and reading the things you've already found, my suggestion would be for you to buy the actual factory motor specific shop manual for you HP motor and see how everything goes together. The manual will also explain how everything works and way to test everything as well. DON'T buy the after market manuals that try to cover everything but fails miserably. Will only make things worst. Make sure it is for YOUR model, years and Horse Power engine from the manufacture. Well worth your money. It will help with securing the right parts and equally explain how to test and run your engine... JMHO!

We don't have any boat yards round sw Louisiana. What would it cost me for the one you have ? Ok I must have pulled the choke loose and didn't realize it. I'm hoping the switch box checks out ok, but if not ill get one. Im taking the day off work tomorrow to do checks and test's. I'll post some better pics of the broke parts tomorrow. I'm hoping I can get by without them. There isn't much corrosion on the exhaust. I think that was a glare from the sun. I'll get a better pic of hat also. To be honest the solenoid was unbolted when I got it.. It looks like it bolts where it is sitting. Never know though.

I will be getting a book for sure. Thanks for the heads up on the off brands. Chiltons auto repair manuals are the same. Better off having a preschooler draw a diagram.

That broke bracket will hold good enough to run a compression test, just pull all plugs and take jumper cable direct to starter. If the motor got hot from the water pump damage that you posted it can have scuffed cylinders and still have compression and rope test is not accurate way to check, ok on smaller motors

Pulled the bypass covers. Everything there looks good. ought a bore scope, and all cylinders look good. No scuffs scratches or anything. All of them are as shinny as a mirror.
