1978 merc 90 hp has no spark

I have an inline 6cyl motor which was running then just died. I have had two marine techs look at it and have two different answers. One says it needs a new trigger? and the other says it needs a new wiring harness or switch? The later said he had the motor running by trying a jumper wire to the switch box. Anyone have any advice.

Thanks, will give it a try, just got back from holidays so havn't looked at the boat yet.
