First off, Hi i'm new! Just picked up my first boat, living in northern Alberta!

I picked it up and was told to motor was wrecked on the TNT, the previous owner had removed the TNT unit and drained it of fluid. I got a new motor and fitted it, hooked everything back up and filled the resevoir with Hydroulic Fluid. When i hit the switch i can hear the motor going bezerk, but no movement.

The main ram is stuck down and doesn't reach the motor connecting point. There are also two rams sticking out that the motor is resting on [i assume these are the trim and the big ram is the tilt?] and they seem to be sticking right out as the motor would be sitting on the outer most rest if it were to rest on the support bar that you can put in on the bottom, like setting the trim on 9hp's and such.

I am new to this system but am rather handy, and my question is this:

CAN ANYONE HELP? lol

I want to go fishing!

Cheers.

Good sign the motor is working. You won't get much movement on that system till all the air bleeds out of the lines. After running the trim up/down a few times, pull the reservoir fill plug. You may find the oil level has gone down. Fill it back up to the lower lip of the opening, then replace the cap. Repeat the bleed/fill cycle till the reservior won't take any more oil.

Gotcha,

But how do i move the main big piston? right now the reservoir is full, but everything compressed, how do i release the pressure so i can pull the piston out since its not attached to the motor [ie, when i tilt the motor the piston doesn't go with it].

i think i read somewhere that you can turn out the empty plug on the right side of the mount two turns and it will release the pressure and allow you to move it?

if so will i need to get someone from work to come give me a hand, one person with the screw driver and one pulling on the piston?

Right now nothing happens when i try to cycle it.

Cheers!

Is your manual release valve already turned out 2 times; if so, then it won't pressure up to move the tilt ram up. If not loosened then yeas you are going to have to turn it out 2 turns and then move the tilt ram up to connect it. Good luck.

I got the ram connected. I lifted it up with the bleed screw out so I could fill it up. Let it drop with te bleed screw and it only drops about half way and I have to push it down the rest of the way. I've done this about 6 times and it still will not work with the motor. The motors running but nothings happening.

Any ideas?

So I walked away for 20 mins, came back and hit the switch thinking what the heck... And it worked! Gargled a bit but it worked. So I topped it up and kept repeating until the cylinder was still at the full level. Works great! Thanks for your input!
