I recently bought a 1978 Alumacraft Lunker 16 with a 1987 50 HP Mercury OB. The boat has dual consoles that are metal and look factory installed. Each console has a flat windshield on top of them. The right side has a recessed switch panel and the steering wheel. The left side is just the bare console.. Does anyone know if this is a factory setup or a DYI project a previous owner might have done. I have searched the internet and can't find anything else like it. The HIN checks out as a 1978 Alumacraft Lunker .

Yep, pictures would be helpful. That said, I'm no Alumacraft oficianado but I am kind of familiar with the boats. From what I remember over the years the Lunker series either came with a single console or no console/tiller.
The factory console back then was either all aluminum, or an aluminum "frame" with wood and wood grain venire.

Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures before I started stripping the boat down to completely refurbish it. I have figured out that the right side console was original to a 1978 Lunker 16 and the left side console was an add on by a previous owner. Both consoles look identical in construction and material and both have windshields added on. Both consoles are all aluminum in construction. Thanks for the replies to my inquiry.
