I have a 1978 70 hp Evinrude and i have no fire to the coils. I have a fully charged battery. I don't read any voltage at the power pack. Where does the voltage come from and what should i check next?

Hi curly.....

The voltage to the pack comes from the charge coil which is part of the stator under the flywheel. Also under the flywheel is the timer base which tells the pack "when" to fire.

Where at the pack are you trying to measure output?

Do you have a manual your going by? This would be a plus as it would tell you how to test the outputs of the components.

Have you tried disconnecting the kill wire, black wire, at the pack and testing for spark?

I know, bunch of questions. Got to start somewhere by getting a feel for what your doing.
