ok guys..not new here, just totally forgot my username..lol...but a buddy of mine just gave me a 1978 evinrude 4hp "firepower" or something like that..has a cdi box. He told me he couldnt get it running and that i can have it. So i had started with the basics, took carb off clean/rebuild. new plugs. fresh fuel. i put some fuel down the throat of the carb and two pulls later she came to life for a couple seconds. repeated with same results. connected my fuel tank, primed her up..nothing..so i had thought i must of done something wrong during carb rebuild. took it apart..everything was fine. put it back on. more gas through carb throat..nothing. hooked tank up...more nothing. after some swear words n a beer...i checked for spark. nada. nothing on either cylinder. can that powerpack go bad just like that?? also..i dont see anything in or around the magneto or flywheel base that "kills" the motor. and im no electrical wizz..so i dont know. cant find wiring diagrams anywhere. Thing that i dont get is that it ran off 3-4 primes i gave it..then nothing. where should i start with this mystery? lol mod. # 4806e
