I have seen those and I like them. I am torn between one with the cooler underneath or double pedestal seats.

Are you from Michigan? I'm just west of Grand Rapids.

Could you snap a few pics of how your rear bench is put together? I'm wondering how the back cushion is hooked to the splashwell panel. Thanks.

The PO build a big box that serves as the seat frame. He put a length of angle bracket down the back and on each side of the upright. He attached it to the floor with angle brackets.

The top is just a piece of plywood with the back cushions attached. Note that there is a 2x2 that sits against the splashwell wall.

The seat is just like the backrest.

Put it all together

Seat basically pivots on the back edge for access to the storage area underneath

Built an OB stand on Saturday and removed the OB from the transom. Hanging a 175 from the rafters with a tow strap and a come-along can get a bit hairy. Spent the rest of the weekend cleaning the garage to make room for the boat. Hope to start tearing out the floor this week/weekend.

Thanks for the pics, they got me thinking I maybe going about mine wrong. I believe your rear bench is original from the factory.
By the way, I live near GVSU....

You think so? I think the design is decent, but overall I was not impressed. I would leave the bottom open and attach it to the floor with angle brackets from the inside. Seems like it would be a lot cleaner look than what the PO/factory had with brackets on the outside.

Got a little time this weekend to work on the boat. Pulled the side panels off and removed the dashboards and center storage box. Found an absolute mess of wiring under the dash and splashwell. Also discovered that there are few things worse than trying to remove a rusted straight-slot screw. Pulled up one of the floor panels and found a huge gas tank and DRY foam boards. Life is good!

When you get a chance would you post some pics of the transom? I want to get a good look at the deadrise. I read the v5 has 21 degrees
at the transom but in your first pics it doesn't look very deep and isn't continuous from the keel all the way out. It looks like it flattens out at the sides. That would make it more stable at rest while allowing the deep v to carve through chop/waves under power. It may just be the angle of the pic. Thanks and keep up the progress.

I can do that. Problem is, it will likely be a while before I can do it as the boat is in the garage and it is pretty tight quarters. Not sure I can get the angle that you want/need. Hopefully, I will be pulling it out in the driveway to powerwash the inside in a few weeks. Will take pics then.
