With a new battery we're having problems turning the engine over. It'll turn over pretty good initially but very shortly after the battery will just die down not being able to turn the engine over. All other electrical components work fine. Any thoughts on where to begin problem solving?

What is the cold cranking amps of your battery?
What condition are the battery cables?
You should be able to remove the starter
and take it to your local auto parts store
and they can test it for you.
The cable ends need to be polished clean and
tight on the battery and the motor.

Is the engine free to spin in the first place? If the battery is new and fully charged then that is not the issue. Therefore we look elsewhere. As mentioned above- how are connections? And last bit not least, how worn is the starter? If the starter has worn bushings it will be very hard to spin when it is loaded. It can sound like a weak battery when this happens. Brushes, windings, etc- all inside the starter.
