As Bob indicated, this is somewhat common on these older crossflows. The factory put an airbox drain on that engine. Be sure the hose is functioning/connected between the bottom of the airbox and the hose barb on the lower front of the powerhead. Also, there should be a cork gasket which seals the two halves of the airbox. 319796. If it's missing, the fuel that collects in the bottom of the airbox will leak into the lower cowling. Any fuel which collects at the bottom of the airbox will get recirulated into the bottom cylinder (through that drain tube) the next time the engine is started. It may smoke a little till that excess fuel gets burned off-10 or 15 seconds.
