Good afternoon,
I just launched my pontoon boat using a 150 hp Mercury outboard and found a bad cable connection inside the motor. Where do I find parts that look similar to the model 3600 Control type throttle cable. This cable has a sleeve that slides over the cable with snaps onto the cable with a snap ring, and then a barrel that fits into a hole that holds the entire unit in place. Am I making any sense at all. It's the old style 1977 throttle cable linkage at the motor. Please advise. Thanks, Bob

Delta, You can easily buy those control cables, at any marine outlet store, or a dealer. They are a standard type. I do not know if you can buy just the end piece however. Maybe you can get one at a OB Junkyard.

Re: 1977 Throttle cable

After spending hours searching the web, I found what I was looking for. It turns out that this assembly is standard for boat from 1965 to present. It's called a Teleflex 3300 Mercury Outboard Connection Kit. On-line from Florida only $15; but at my local Mercury Outboard shop: $38.00. "If you need the part; you pay the price." Again I remember why I hate Mercury Outboard repair dealers. They should be ashamed of "screwing" the public. I definitely won't be using their services in the near future. Especially when I also found it on line locally for $4.75 for this small, plastic sleeve. Anyhow, thanks for your input.
