Folks, I have three wire connections that have come off where they were attached. I have no wiring diagram and can't find one for this old lady. Regal did not archive it. If anyone has a copy of one from that era for any Regal boat or know where I could get one, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any older vintage Regal, maybe if you could take pictures of the wiring under your dashboard that would help. The wires are red, orange and purple. The orange has live 12v coming directly from the batteries. I have no power coming to the dashboard so the orange is probably the culprit. I see an empty post on the ignition switch but I'm afraid to plug it in and maybe cause damage. My email is bbuchanan62@gmail.com

You really don't need a boat specific diagram for your issue. Most boats have standard color wires for the dash. These differ from cars so it would behoove you to check some links.

In your case, it sounds like your ignition switch has come undone, or been replaced and rewired. But w/o pics it's hard to say.

1. Orange: Accessories common feed. Usually on switch
2. Purple (violet): 12v ignition, Generator or engine
3. Red: unprotected battery feed.

This is the diagram for my boat. A mercruiser. it should be similar to yours.

This is a link to the common colors on boats.

Commander_47, Thank you for your response. I printed out the referenced schematic links you provided. As soon as I get a chance I am going to see if they help. I'm sure I have the original key switch in the boat so the wiring should be what we would call normal. I will follow up....

Thanks again!

I was wrong. Red lead was live 12v. Both red and orange ended up connecting to the back of the ignition switch. The purple (I didn't check) lead is probably to light up the compass. Thanks for the help Commander_47. You gave me enough info to proceed!

You welcome. I'm glad you fixed it. Purple in my boat also runs the instruments, and is normal. I ran a separate switch on my boat to turn on the instrument lights. I couldn't see running them during the day time.

thanks for the update.
