I have a 1977 inline 6 150 hp like all of them it has to be choked to death to get it to start.once started it idles fine and during cooler weather runs great. as the weather warms up it still idles fine but when you throttle up it acts like it is running out of gas back off the throttle and it idles fine. sometimes i can double pump the throttle and it will take off, other times i put it in nuetral and rev it for a few seconds and it will then take off. I have tried squeezing the bulb when it does this but it makes no difference is it a fuel problem or something else ?

Could be lots of things. #1 pull plugs and check the compression, (if one or more plug looks bad pay attention) . #2 If #1 is OK, check the fuel system, fuel pump, lines, carbs. #3 I assume the spark is good or it would not start, but check the cap for dirt or water, and the wires for problems. Good luck JR

My 73 1500 did do all of that. It would die in the arse when I was cruising. I couldn't use full throttle for to long. If I back off to idle it would be ok for short while. It was hard to get up on to a plane. The fuel pump was stuffed.. The idle mixture was out.. My outboard mach gave me this stuff that decarbonized from motor. Seem ok now till the box seized gggrrr.. crappy old oil!!
