Re: Where to sell Starcraft boat

Hey TL! You can post it up on iboats over here... http://www.iboats.com/sell-a-boat/

eBay is another way to go but craigslist is probably your best bang for the buck. No selling stuff on the forums, men will come to your house and drag you away if you even think about it.

How to price it? Post up some photos and we'll be happy to tell you what it's value is. Be sure to give us your location, yup it matters big time.

Cheers!

Not much of a market for Starcraft boats that old...tell ya what, I'll get rid of it for you at no cost. I hope you don't live too far away from Michigan.:D

In all seriousness, the advice above is good, craigslist is the best way to find a buyer. On the west coast the prices are inflated but in Michigan they are selling pretty cheap at the moment.

How big is the Chieftain? What kind of power OB or I/O?

Thanks for the response guys. This is a '77 22ft chieftain outboard. It's in really good shape inside and out but could use a paint job. No motors and with or without the trailer. It has canvas tops and covers and the seats and cushions are in great shape also. Just a little dirty.

Anyway, whatcha think?

I know what I think but you have to tell us what part of the country you are from first, like I said, it definitely makes a difference.

Re: Where to sell Starcraft boat

It does look to be in good shape, and probably a freshwater only boat that was trailered and stored indoors. That goes a long way as far as keeping it in good shape.

The fact that it's set up for an outboard makes it more valuable to some folks, less to others I'd imagine.

For me it looks like the perfect boat, exactly what I'd like to acquire.:D

If you live near Michigan, the price would be in the $800-1500 range. I'm looking at a 22' Islander w/ 2.5L I/O listed for $1500 and an outboard model 21' w/ 100hp early 70s Johnson also for $1500.

I am hoping to get one for 1k or less sometime in the next year or so.

Since that boat is registered in Oregon, I'll assume that's the location. Prices are MUCH, MUCH higher out your way. More in the range of 2k+ since it doesn't look like it's got any corrosion but can't tell for sure in the photo.

She is a sweet rig and will likely bring double what you'd get in our neck of the woods.
