I have a gearcase on this motor that is acting up and I am wondering what I am up against and am asking for some advice.
When the motor is not running, I can shift into reverse and turn the flywheel and the prop turns and it is gear pretty solid. When it is running however, it kind of grinds, not real noisy or scary, but it doesn't go into reverse. It just doesn't really catch. I thought it may have moved back a little but I just pushed off and didn't test it out too much.
I actually pushed on the shifting arm and got it to go into gear once so I though maybe the shift rod needed adjustment to go down a little farther. That didn't work so I am back to where it was. Forward works good and it goes into neutral like it is supposed to but reverse just revs the motor up a bit.
Any ideas or advice?
