I bought a 70 hp Evinrude that was running good but had set up for about 2 years. Rebuilt the carbs and installed a water pump. Bench tested (with water hose) seem to run good in and out of gear. I installed it on a 1993 pontoon replacing a 40 hp Evinrude.
Finally here is my problem! Started, idled good, but put it in gear and it dies.(boggs)
I am a auto mechanic by trade, so to me it feels like: no fuel. T
ried mashing bubble and choking, makes it worse so I don,t believe lack of fuel. Feels like a timing issue or on a car it would poss. restricted exhaust. Could it be a linkage adjustment messing with timing? Sometimes you can slowly accel and get the boat moving but it about troling speed no more. Any help would be great!!!
