Hey guys, anyone know what one of these SS160’s weigh as equipped? Ie; with a max rated outboard and house battery? I’m seeing figures of 675-725 and assume this is bare hull only?

We have to replace our car and I’m wondering if I’m under 1500lbs complete with a 70hp Johnson, a house battery and a pair of group 27’s, front troller, roller trailer etc.

Unfortunately, I’m dealing with a health issue and I’m still stuck in the middle of project mode so I can’t easily tow it to the local weigh station to verify.

I was just running numbers for my new prop and I believe what you’re figuring is correct. Bare hull though should only be around 450lbs I think. But capacity is 900, so total with all gear, motor, people, everything - 1,500 lbs. Thats how the illegible plate reads at least.

To answer your questions about your weight with trailer…. Just guessing here.

Trailer - guess weight since I dont know how big yours is.
Hull - 450
Floor - 100
Fuel - 50-100
Seats, steering wheel, etc - 50
Batteries - 100
Motor - 250
Trolling motor - 75

If your trailer is under 500 lbs you will be really close to 1500lbs. Doesnt take much to go over though. Id never tow at max capacity though, so figure 2500 lbs capacity minimum, if not 3-5000 lbs. You could, but I wouldnt for long or far.

Hope you get your health issues figured out, and get well soon!!

Thanks, it’s going to be a bit of a journey but I’ll get there!

I agree, more capacity for insurance is better for sure

Under 1500, easy - for the boat.

The early SS16 was listed at 600, the later ones at 650.
Max HP weight - depends on your motor - a V4 OME and/or Merc I6 will be about 300 or so.
A battery - 100 each - 200 for the 2
So this get you to about 1,200 before gear (for the boat).

The trailer weight depends on your trailer, I've seen lighter trailers and heavier trailers w/SS16's on them, a heavier trailer will quickly get you over 1500 lbs.

But, a car with a tow rating of 1500 is a pretty small car, I would look for something with a higher rating if it were me. (even our old mini van had a 3000 lb rating)

Thank you. Decided to buy something that will not tow And for now we will use our old V6 Toyota Venza, then eventually a small used pick up truck or SUV. Venza is rated at 3500 And has towed our tent trailer around for a bit In the early years. Not so thrilled about using front wheel drive at the boat launch however… Kind of worried about that

Front wheel drive should not be an issue at the ramp, rear wheel drive on a slippery ramp can be a big issue. Years back my old Taurus wagon was front wheel drive and towed 2200 lbs boat and trailer with O issues. I am not a fan of front wheel drive vehicles, but on a slippery boat ramp, they are better than rear wheel only drive in my opinion... 4 wd is best in my opinion...
