I have a 75 Wellcraft I am restoring. Everything was running perfect last month, then went to start it this Saturday and she ran for a few seconds, died, tried cranking it over, it flooded, waited, cranked some more, batteries lost juice, solenoid chattered, then electrical system went DARK. No power at switch, nothing. Hmmm ok so recharged batteries and at full power. Electrical System is still completely dead with the exception of bilge pump. Replaced starter silenoid, replaced ignition switch, no change. Acts like a blown fuse but can't find a fuse to replace. There is a 40amp "switch" on the top of the engine but doesn't seem to reset, not sure if it can. Looking for any old school folks that can help me get this ol gal running again. Thanks in advance for the help!

Start by replacing all the battery cables positive & ground from the battery to the engine and to the battery switch if there is one with good quality #1 size from NAPA .

You need to be able to trace where voltage is and where its not. Need to get a voltmeter first, then start at the battery and trace where voltage stops appearing

I have the same problem. Turn key, no click, no crank. Wires on starter were badly coated, took them off, wire brush, replaced, no go. The negative wired look good (may remove and clean anyway)

I have a 5.7 mercruiser. Started Sunday, put online electric fuel pump, went to start and nothing. Throttle in neutral. No click or anything. I can jump solenoid with screwdriver and the engine turns over.

batt terminals clean.

I can only think bad solenoid or neutral switch?
