Look up parts at Crowley marine with your serial number, they can be cross referenced back here or on the net. Those parts should be pretty standard and easy to look up.

Unfortunately my s/n is rubbed mostly off. Can't read it.

I don't know if I have any upward or not in my vent line. The tank is a really tight fit. Line probably runs straight out. I'll see if I can get some pics of it.

Probably a good idea to add a water separating fuel filter, $30 or so. /QUOTE]

Not entirely sure if I can get a water separating filter... I'm having fun finding parts altogether. I know they exist, but not having a s/n is proving to be a bit of a pain.

Here is basically what my fuel pump/filter assembly is:

I've found the appropriate fuel filter, just not sure if this assembly can accomodate any sort of water seperating unit.

They are generic, one size fits-all type of deals. Water separating fuel filters You'll need some additional A2 marine fuel hose and clamps to install it,,, and a good mounting location.

So it must somehow be installed in-line between the tank and fuel pump/filter?

Water separating filter is an add-on part that sits on your fuel line between the tank and the fuel pump. It looks like an oil filter and the bracket has inlet and outlet for your fuel line. I just installed this one on my Mercruiser 3.0 L

Fuel Water Separator Kit

Takes about a half hour to install tops. You will need the 3/8" hose barbs (sold separately).

Water shouldn't (shouldn't) enter through the vent if everything is run properly. Does the vent line run from the hull fitting, then upwards, then back down to the tank? It might have an upward loop in it. It needs the upward bend so water drains back out, instead of running into the tank. (Or it needs a newer style P-trap vent, if the vent line goes downward from the thru-hull fitting.)

I ordered a new fuel vent that is supposed to help prevent water siphoning in:

We'll see how it does... sometime in the next few weeks anyway.

In the meantime I'd like to get back in the water this weekend. Any rule against moving my vent temporarily to the top of my engine compartment? I have an old hole up there I can use until my part arrives. And considering this area is never under water (we hope) I shouldn't suck anything in...

Any suggestions on a good way to get my fuel lines "re-primed"? Just to be safe I completely drained my entire fuel system from tank to carb to get rid of any water.

I've completed my tuneup, etc, and it seems to be taking forever to get fuel back into the system...

Ayuh,.... Unless you've got a vacuum leak, the fuel pump should prime the system in a few seconds...

Stranger things have happened I'm sure. I've read that I could dump a bit of gas into the carb to run it for a bit, and hopefully get the gas coming in. If I were to try this trick, how much gas should I drop in there?

Survey says...

Anti-siphon on gas tank caused no fuel issue.

Successfully ran for two hours tonight.

Lake test (again) tomorrow.

And, success on the lake test! Ran all day with no issues. Also now able to reach an appropriate idle RPM. Still not reaching WOT RPM level, but I think that could be my prop.

A project for someday.

Here's an interesting one: I'm docked at the lake as we speak, so curious as to an expert thought.

Friend accidentally dropped my trolling plate as we were trying to pull a tube. Didn't realize what was going on for some time.

We ran quite a while with the dang thing down. Im wondering if we may have risked burning up the impeller by not having proper water flow? Other issues?

Seriously doubt that would cause problems with the impeller as there was still plenty of water for the impeller to suck up. Only problem I could see happening is a bent trolling plate, depending on if the plate locks down.

Wasn't sure. Everything turned out fine. The plate breaks away for idiots who forget it :) so it's good too! Now i need to catch something!

Friends on the boat can be a boaters worst problem. I know it's caused me some head aches. It would be good to school
'em on things. Train them before you let them drive as well.
