Re: 1975 135 johnson loose water tubes
Somehow we seem to be assuming you are speaking of the plastic guides. However, when I read the question, it seems that you are asking about the water tubes' attachment at the upper end.
They are attached to the bottom side of the powerhead adapter by a flange. There are two rubber grommets making the seal complete. If it is loose and shaky enough it would indicate the rubber grommet is shot. But if it just moves around in the rubber, it is ok. So the question arises: How loose is loose?
If the rubber grommets are shot, it is a major job to replace them. The powerhead has to come off. Then the midsection has to come out of the mounts. Finally, you can then remove the powerhead adapter to access the water tubes, retainer plate, and grommets.
