so first off, thanks previous posts have helped but a problem has arose in my tower of power (not so much power) i cannot figure out why the motor will not run on its own. with the starter it will but when the key goes back to the "run" position it will not.
ive tried to dianose the problem my self for a couple of weeks now but i still come up holding nothing.
i did replace the key switch- after putting it on i tested the for continuity
for the :
Off D E (black & salmon/tan)
Start A F B (red, white, & yellow)
Run A F (red & white)
after that failed to produce, i started checking the continuity and broken wires from the keys witch wires to the plug in to the engine, and the engine plug in to their respective places on the engine.
the mercury switch is also completely disconnected.
i used a trigger to start the engine across the Ignition solenoid it started but still wouldnt run on its own.
Ive replaced the plug wires so those are all good, also in that process i took the distributor cap (marking if) cleaned it up. and tested the coil-which would lead to one problem but i dont know if it would keep the engine from running on its own it doesnt really have any resistance across it.
with all that being said i let a guy look at it and he said it looked like to him the stator has gone bad. but reading other posts-jimBc didnt even have a stator and his seemed to run.
sorry for rambling but im just looking for an answer i want to go fish =(
thanks
Edit: also i found a ground the main harness ground, grounded to block and not to the cowl- im on a search for a bolt to see if that helps of if it even matters.
