List looks good to me! Cant help you much except where I just learned on how to inspect wheel bearings/hubs (on my list too). I pretty much just completed that list on my new trailer except for the axle.

I’ve been watching videos on it tonight! Looks easy enough. Now to decide if I want to use bearing buddies or not. I see it can be quite the controversy.

All 3 of my trailers have bearing buddys apparently lol. Had to google it. Looks like it adds protection so I dont see why not?

I’ve been watching videos on it tonight! Looks easy enough. Now to decide if I want to use bearing buddies or not. I see it can be quite the controversy.

You will see a lot of guys have them. Only thing to keep in mind is not to over fill. If you start seeing grease on the interior of your wheel after an outing and you don't think your seals are bad, you are overfilling.

Learned that the hard way.... That being said, I guess I would rather be over filling then underfilling in this case.

No need for new hubs if those aren't damaged, I would pull them off, check the bearings and races, remove all the old grease, inspect spindles for grooves and since you have them off replace the grease seals then repack the bearings and hubs.

After watching a few videos this looks like and easy task and plan to repack the bearings and clean them up.

I spent tonight deconstructing my trailer, sanding it down to as close to bare metal as I could and applying a couple coats of primer. This project is going to take me a couple of weeks (maybe months) so I decided to break the trailer up into sections and prime those sections so they didn’t form new rust while I was working on other sections. I bought the purple discs for the angle grinder that work extremely well. Much better than any wire brush.

A lot of projects seems to take longer then originally planed. Our project started in March and I told the admiral I planned to have it done by July. I just didn't account it would be July 2 years later.....

My weekend was well spent on the boat trailer. I’ve made a lot of progress on the sanding and priming. Hopefully after next weekend I will be done priming the trailer, but I’ve got all of the parts that I took off the trailer that will need it. I also came to the conclusion that my hubs are shot. I inspected one of them and noticed the seal on the back was blown out, the bearing have pitted and so have the races inside the hubs. Now time to research how to get the correct hubs for my axles. Any pointers?

This weekend I was able to get the entire frame sanded and primed. I also replaced all 4 hub races, bearings and seals. I started sanding a few of the parts off the trailer like the fenders. Next weekend I hope to have all of the parts primed and ready for paint. Parts include fenders, winch post, and brackets for the bunks. I also plan on painting the wheels but not certain if I will get to that.

I finally got ALL of the grinding/sanding done and ha e primed everything. Next weekend I will be spraying Rustoleum’s Top Side for the finish. Once I get the painting done. The trailer will be put back together. While the boat is off I’ll need to get the trailer weighed so I can get it legal. Then I can put my focus back to the important part. THE BOAT!!!

Tonight I tried my hand at painting with a hvlp gun. I’m sure a pro would say my paint job was god awful, but since it is a trailer I looked at it as practice and I don’t really care if there are runs or orange peel. I’m happy with my first coat. Tomorrow night I will apply a second coat. According to the instructions a third and final coat shouldn’t be applied for at least 36 hours. So next weekend will be my final coat. I am using rustoleum’s Topside paint with 12.5% xylene for a thinner.

Progress to this point looks the same as my previous post however I’ve finished all three coats of paint. I want to give it at least 36 hours to harden before I start putting it back together. My bunks are complete and ready to go on, rollers and lights are ordered. Hopefully in my next post you’ll see a somewhat put together trailer.

I am coming up on 2 years as well. Life sure is unpredictable

Finally done with my trailer. I’m quite happy with how it turned out. I had some issues with the electrical that took some time. I finally realized one of my marker lights was putting power to the trailer frame. I left all of the nuts and bolts mostly loose so I can put the boat on the bunks and get a proper fitment.
