First things first, hello everyone, new member here and also new to owning a boat. That said I have a few questions about said boat.
It’s titled as a 1974 Starcraft American 18” I/o with the 165hp i6, the emblems and badges on the hull all identify it as such also. Thing is I can’t find any information on this particular boat no matter how many times I’ve searched the web. The boat is in great shape for its age and considering it has been winterized and sitting on the trailer in a garage since 2005 at least, according to the last registered sticker. It does need a little bit of love as anything that’s sat so long would, things like a soft spot in the floor towards the rear and some or the interior padded trim has rotted, but otherwise it’s solid. Took it out last weekend for about 4 hours after changing fluids and a good tune up and she ran and floated/handled great. But as I said I can’t find any I formation on this particular model of American and would like to be able to replace things with period correct parts and materials and style. Again, it’s a 1974 Starcraft American 18” I/o 165, closed bow. I will add another post with a few pictures.
thank you all for any and all advice or help.

The American was one of the 'glass boats that SC built in the 70's... TBH they weren't the best at it and aluminum was their main gig but the boats were decent.

A soft floor on a glass boat that is 40+ years old means rot.. transom/ deck/ stringers

Good point. The transom and everything I can see looking around with a flashlight and touching all seems to be fine. Just a small portion of the rear floor just in front of the rear seats. Seems more like rain damage or from tossing skis/tubes on the floor. Though at some point I will be digging into it further for sure and checking for anything major. Also forgot to mention that the boat was free, given to me from a good friend who would rather be on his Harley. Is there anyone who knows a lot about these old glass boats on here?

Well, its got a HIN on the transom, so it looks to be '74 or newer.

You won't be finding "period correct" parts, unless you find some on ebay or a junkyard.

The vinyl back then was make with chemicals they can't use now days, some you will be left using the modern day inferior version.
An exact color match won't be found.

We used to have all the old starcraft brochures posted here, but all the links got damaged in the software upgrade.

Yeah I assumed some of the parts are going to be nla or just gone all together. Using today’s version of vinyl is expected, just wanted to try and match color schemes and styles. Currently it seems as though some of the vinyl had been replaced already and what’s left of the original material is no good or just ugly. Has an ugly green color and white.

man, I’d like to see them old brochures, that sucks.

This particular complaint isn't related to the the forum upgrade. We can blame Photobucket and other photo hosting sites used to store the brochures. Also the owners of the hosting pages may have moved or deleted content.

I think the 74 brochure was actually torpedoed by the photobucket money grab.

Well, then we start from scratch.

Who has a brochure hard copy ?

Who can scan and or host images?
