Hello everyone, I have a 1974 Mercury 1500 150hp L6 outboard motor with a bad water pump. I can’t find any videos on YouTube about replacing a water pump on this motor but I did find a video replacing the pump on a later 150hp Black Max motor, would the process be similar enough I could use that video as a tutorial?

First buy the kit using your serial Nr. tilt the motor up as far as you can on to tilt lock, remove the screws from the housing including the FLUSH (if applicable) and drain the gear lube into to a disposable container. Undo the nuts that hold the LU including the one under the trim tab and slide the LU off of the driveshaft housing then remove the bolts holding the waterpump cover and the slinger; remove the old impeller and install the new one turning the driveshaft CW while sliding the cover over the impeller [dishwashing detergent on the vanes helps it slide]
