1974 Johnson 85 hp cable replacement

I replaced both my control cables on my boat, but when I start it the engine revs up like the throttle is stuck, I bought the manual and followed it for the replacement, but cannot find this problem in the Solas Manual...Help! The boat is a 73 Starcraft American Bowrider with a 1974 Johnson 85 hp outboard and power shift 2 control box.

If the problem happened after you replaced the throttle cable it sounds like you don't have the cable adjusted properly.

thanks, I will try that today and let you know...started getting dark on me...I started to think that but could it really be that simple? usually not my luck..lol
