I have another post about WOT trouble- still workin on it.

I have another question. Engine model is 50ESL74M and outdrive appears to be E4044221.

1. What does "M" stand for ?

2. How do I find out if this is an electric-shift model?

Was told that if it is electric-shift, dont throw a bunch of $$$ into it. Cut your losses and get another motor !!

The "M" is just a small change on the mtr for that model year. It's not an electric shift but a manual shift with an oil pump in it. If the lower unit needs repair other than seals, it could get costly. Check shop.evinrude.com and look up you mtr.
