1974 johnson 15hp

Please help. Got a new lower unit and the thing still isnt going into gear. When i manually do the bottom shift rod the gears and prop aren't doing nothing. Prop should be going in and out right?

not sure what you mean by the "prop should be going in and out", unless you mean in and out of gear?? try turning the prop or driveshaft while you move the shift rod. the clutch dog need to align with the gears to engage.

Yeah in and outta gear. Prop spins freely

have a close look at the pivot pin ( the phillips head screw beside the drain plug) , to see if it shows any sign of being removed.

If i push down shift rod it will turn at driveshaft not by prop. Lift up on shift rod nothing on both prop or driveshaft

Sure sounds to me like it's time to open up your gear case. Good instructions for doing it in LeeRoy's web site. best of luck. Rick.
