1974 Evinrude fisherman pull start not working

Good Evening y’all. The pull rope on my motor suddenly isn’t working properly. I took a video to show they the rope is pulling fine but the gear is not engaging with the flywheel. Any ideas what causes this? I’m guessing the spring in it or that clip under the recoil is bad.

Take it apart and grease it up. The roll pin might be binding or spring is broke or hanging

The spring on bottom of the gear needs to grip more.----It needs to be adjusted ( bent ) a little.----Or a zealous owner has lubricated that spring.----That is NOT to be greased!

This gear had warped so bad it didn’t work anymore. New gear and works perfect
