1974 cobalt closed bow 302 188HP transom cracked

hi i have a 74 cobalt closed bow i took it out on the river today ran good just redid the carb on it i pilled it out of the water and there is a crack in the transom bout 2" long lot of water came out when i took the plug out what it the best way to fix this? also the coolent water hose has a small leak so it was running a little hot any advice?

I definitely recommend sealing the hole if its possible with epoxy, and if you are done with the season maybe you can look forward redoing your Transom? I would definitely recommend replacing that hose before it gets worst, running your engine hot can cause drastic failure in the long run. It may even cause you to lose the engine down the road.

Post some pictures of the damage you are talking about. Need to figure out why it cracked before you go fixing it. It sounds like you may have a rotten transom, but not for sure.

It would help a lot to see some pictures of the crack inside and out. I suspect transom rot so I believe the next step would be to drill some test holes on the inside of the transom down low and around the area of the crack to see how the wood looks.
