Can I run a non splined prop with a shear key on a shaft that has splines and a shear key? If both inner diameters are the same?

I know it has been done. It is referred to as a drive pin,Be sure it fits right. You don't want to damage the hole the prop or shaft. And carry some spare pins.

Did you not like my answer to your first post? Sure, you can "get away" with doing what you want to do but eventually it may turn around and bite you in the a##.

I found a 18 splined prop today with a thrust pin, prop nut, and cotter key for 60 bucks was wondering if I tighten the prop nut until the prop stops on the thrust pin then tighten to cotter key?
