I am having a problem with my evinrude and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the problem might be?
I was out this weekend and the motor was running fine. I pulled up to a spot to go fishing and when I throtled down, the motor started to make a grinding noise. I shut the motor down and started it back up and it still made the grinding noise. I felt the motor and it feels like the grinding noise is come from the power head. It sounds like it is stuck between gears or gears grinding. The motor starts and runs and the lower unit goes into both foward and reverse. It does not matter if the moter is in neutral or either forward or reverse it still makes the grinding noise. So my question is what is making the grinding noise? Could it be where the splines of the lower unit fits into the power head or is somthing else.
Thank you,
Alex
