1974 16' Starcraft SS Trailer Question

I've had this boat for a while now and it has 1974 Texas Trailer which I assume is original to the boat. My problem is it has never been easy to load out. Always a bit off center. I don't have a pic handy but its a standard center roller and 2-4 foot bunk design.
It also has 4 foot side guides that are fairly firm and they keep it close in a high wind but not dead center.

I want to make a modification but was hoping some of you StarCraft guys could show me your setup.

Most of the time guys who can't get the boat on the trailer fairly centered is because they put the trailer in too deep so the boat floats around over the bunks.

A pic of your current set up could help with suggestions on how to help.

I’ll post some pics. I know that’s helpful just haven’t done it in a while. I’ve owned this boat for 10 years now and it’s never been a good loader. Tried various depths over the years giving my wife a target and hand signals. Wish I could make it a drive on.....

Watermann, if you click my signature link it does still have a few pics from 2011. The yellow rollers are now hard rubber with a slight bevel and a center groove. Trouble is it hard to hit the groove.

Oh oh and if I don’t have the trailer in deep water my wife is a bit too weak to do the cranking. As it is now she cranks about 4 feet.

Sounds like you might need to invest in some self centering keel rollers, they are good at helping with this type of situation.

To be frank I was thinking about another set of bunks angled steeply towards the bow. I know this boat is popular and that’s why I posted under Starcraft hoping to see others trailer setups.

That trailer is even smaller than the one that was under our SS16 when we got it.
I replaced it with a larger roller trailer, w/16 rollers, the type with 4 sets of 4.
I might have gone a bit overboard but we've had no problems sense.

Yeah my boats are 18'rs with 4 bunk cradle drop axle trailers so not very similar to what you have but I've got lots of pics in my threads. I don't power load my SS I bow line it but my Chief I power load as it throttles down so slow I can do it easily.

I added some bunks to the front of mine to help with centering. I can power it on easily and it centers the bow nicely.
Watermann is right about the trailer being too deep being an issue. Depending on the launch angle my stern still floats around and can easily sit off center. If this happens I just pull the trailer out a bit and hand crank it on while someone else holds the boat even between the posts. I'm never off the keel rollers and I have the same black ones that you have.

Can I post photos off my phone? I used to load to Photobucket first. Been a few years.

Hey someone painted your hockey sticks backwards.

I can't really see your bunks in the pics.

I know that paint job is aweful. I painted the interior and replaced carpet with vinyl. Never got to the outside...the fish don’t seem to mind!

Heres the bunks. Guess I could move them out tight to the “rail”....not sure what it’s called.

The bunks should be centered between those chines on the bottom and side.

That makes sense.
Obviously you post a lot. How did you redo my photos to scale it up? So much easier to view.

Howdy Wrmdunker. Sorry to take you off topic here, but I found this pic on one of your old posts and was wondering if you got your issue resolved. Why? Please take a look below...

I am trying to identify the cause and find a solution on another post. Would you be kind enough to go take a look at the evolution of my problem on this link please? This way, the thread will not be interrupted here.

I'm sorry for getting you all sidetracked, but I couldn't think of a better way to get Wrmdunker's advice.

Will
