Hello , been here a long time, but first time posting. My questions always seem to be answered by searching, but not this time.

I am restoring my boat and have got down to the deck removal, and found something I have not seen posted anywhere. There is a sub-deck that was installed the last time it was replaced. The work was done by the original owner that gave me the boat just before he passed. I have posted some pictures in hopes of some advise on how to attack this.

You should never use two layers of plywood over each other. That is the best way to rot both layers.. It is not done as a common practice. The original owner took a short cut.. Use a good marine grade ply or a exterior grade ply.

Thank you Decker83, So this week all of this comes out and the cleaning starts. I plan on using marine plywood. Do you know what the original decking was 1/2in or thicker?

One other question. Do you or anyone else know how to get ahold of DozerII? I have some questions on some of the mods he did on his restoration that he posted years ago.

Yeah SC used 1/2 5 player marine ply for the decking.

Double decking is done to either take a short cut or to do a quick fix and sell. The donor boat I got was decked over rotten.
