I am currently attempting to get the 1973 johnson 50 on my VIP to start. This motor has not been cranked in about four years. I have already replaced the starter solenoid and since doing so, the starter turns the motor over, but I am getting no where from there. After priming the motor and verifying that gas is getting at least as far as the filter, I took both spark plugs out and checked for any fuel residue, there appears to be none. I also tried cranking the motor while having the spark plugs disconnected and there appears to be no spark coming from them either. Additionally my father, who gave me the boat, told me he thought that there may be something wrong with the carberuators. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I should go from here? Any advise is appreciated.

First you need to but a manual for this motor. It will help you out alot. Second you need to buy a spark plug tester and go from there. let me know what happens.
