1973 Evinrude 6hp Starter Rope diameter?

I am trying to order some new starter rope for my 6hp Evinrude (1973). I found the length is supposed to be 56 1/4", but does anyone know the diameter?

I don't know. They only give a part number. If you have some you can take it to your local hardware or small engine shop and get it there. That's where I get it. Best of luck. Rick.

check out replacement pull cords for briggs stratton mower engines at home depot (with or without a new handle)

I would guess 3/16 ".

Diameter is 1/8 inch, nylon braid. OEM p/n 0316706, replaced by p/n 0772579. Good luck!

I was able to buy 1/8" locally and went out to the boat and installed it on the engine. It fit pretty well and works great. Thanks for everyone's help.
