My 73 Evinrude 115 has been a project to say the least. I have researched this engine constantly and now I'm left scratching my head.
I started with no spark, I replaced the battery that was worn out, cleaned all grounds and replaced starter that was spinning slower than 250 rpms. Since then it reliably has spark.
Now I have gone through my entire fuel system. Replaced fuel lines, fuel pump, water separator, cleaned carbs twice.
I can not get this engine to run on its own for the life of me. It has 120lbs compression on every cylinder when I crank it for a while the spark plugs will have fuel on them and if I spray fuel directly into the carbs it will fire and run until it burns up the fuel I have sprayed in. I just got done looking for intake leaks before the carbs and have not found anything.
It's boating season down here in Florida and my wife is tired of watching me wrench on this boat every weekend.
