Obviously I'm new here, however I have been coming here for reference for a few weeks before registering. You guys have a great site and it seems as though everyone is always super helpful.
So I got roped into doing this resto for my father in law. He recently retired from the Houston Texas fire dept, and has been backburnering this boat for about 20 years. Like it says in the title, it's a 73 xk18 Chris craft. There were some soft spots in the little bit of wood there was on the floor so I pulled it out and have been fixing it slowly. All of the bolts for both of the front seat anchors have broken off, and with the amount of rust on them I don't think I will be able to extract them. I was thinking about cutting the area below the seats out and building a whole new mount.
Do you know what I can expect to find in there? Is it just some wood that has been fiberglass end into the hull? I don't like to remove things without knowing what they are made of, that's how serious problems happen. Any advice or guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Justin
