Hello All,
If you are over at THT you have probably seen me posting recently. Those guys seem to be into bigger sea worthy boats so I thought I'd try a different forum. I purchased this 17.5' Century Raven 3 Months ago knowing it would need some work. This is only my second boat first one I had to do any work to. So still learning a lot.. Here are some photo's of the new transom, flooring and carpet.
The engine that came with it was a 165 hp Inline 6 with matching outdrive.
It did have a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold and was not getting water to the manifolds so it was overheating. The bellows were all torn up and just seemed neglected but it did start on first turn of the key. Oil looked good no water..
I replaced the shift cable and the gimbal oil seal and bearing so far along with shift cable bellows going to go ahead and finish bellow job this weekend to get it put back onto the transom.
I purchased a second outdrive, gimbal housing, engine and a bunch of misc parts mainly just because I needed the exhaust manifold the price was just to good to pass up ($300) for a donor... the outdrive is a newer 81 so is the engine but has correct gear ratio so I may end up using the donor outdrive instead of mine. He said he couldnt get the engine to run.
I will replace impeller kit in hopes this resolves my previously stated cooling issue.
You'll see another photo of a milled head this came with the donor engine and drive I just picked up.. Not sure if I will use this head or (don't fix what's not broke) and just put it in storage as a just in case.. I'll have to make that determination next weekend before I put the engine back in the boat I suppose.
Well I hope you guys enjoy my small resto any comments or constructive criticism just post it I'm always open to learning more from you vets out there! (GLAD THE ITCHY PART IS OVER WITH)
