Hello, all!

Just bought these two motors and both have a knob (in addition to choke and off button) that rotates left to right.
The seller of the 9.5 told me it's to adjust the rich-lean mixture.
Just what is this control for and how do I use it?

Also, any idea where I can get an operators manual for these engines?

Thanks!:)

It is a slow speed lean/rich adjustment. Only adjusted when your setting up you slow speed idle and then you leave it alone until the next time you rebuild your carb. What you need is a service manual for each engine and I would strongly recommend you get an original OMC service manual for your year and HP. I always get them on Ebay. The proper procedure for setting the knob is in the manual or at the top of this forum in the top secret file. Best of luck. Rick.

Thanks, Rick!
I just looked at my 1957 Johnson 5.5hp and that motor has two dials, one for low speed and one for high.

Sorry about that. I have 9.5 on the brain and totally forgot you also mentioned a six hp. I steer clear of them because of the fact I've not worked on one before. It would be a better idea to post questions about the separately anyway. Best of luck. Rick.
