No need to replace the whole switch. You need to look at the switch and get the number that you will see beside the keyhole. Any Evinrude dealer can get you a new key from that number. OR a real locksmith can make you a key from the number. Hard part is finding a real locksmith these days.

I've looked and there is no number, unless you have to open the controls to see it. Its just black plastic where the key goes.

Look real hard at the black plastic where the key goes in. Sometimes hard to read.

Granted, there is the possibility the switch has previously been replaced with an aftermarket one. If push comes to shove, part number is 384238, replaced by 386947, from an Evinrude dealer. List price is $63. iboats probably has an aftermarket one. I haven't attempted to figure out which one it takes.

Went through this myself...sort of. i didnt have a key switch or key. so i got a push to choke switch that cost me about 30.00 but you should look online for cheaper ones if time isnt a factor... im very impatient

i had a similar issue, mine kept blowing fuses after a few sec of key being on. the warning buzzer was grounding against the case causing a short, but a delayed short
