The moter runs great with a charged battery but will not charge battery. Battery is good. Put dead battery on, Jump started, won't run while connected to dead battery.
I think the problem may be the battery. If it stalls out when you hook up the dead battery, it may be shorting the stator to ground (how most outboard kill switches operate). I may be totally off-base tho..
