1970's 85 hp mercury

i have a new rotor shaft with rotor. broke the rotor trying to remove the one in the distributor. does anyone know how they are pressed in and who would be able to swap them out?

The distributor must be removed and completely disassembled in order to replace the rotor. Here's an old post with some comprehensive instructions on doing that:

It's not exactly the same as your 4-cyl dist, but there are some good pics of the disassembly.
