I was onboard today from 12:30 thru 4PM. Got things all set for winter. i don’t have any pull from the staff, Steve wants to spruce up the marina by removing abandoned boats. The lease also requires all boats to be mechanically sound and run. Maybe you can put an outboard on it to make it move.

The harbor buoy data shows a mean salt concentration of 0.01 ppt but can go as high as 2.8 ppt at various times during the year. More than enough “salt” to support galvanic corrosion.

That's practically nothing. I'm at around 10ppt and see *far* less salt water effects than the ocean.

I grew up with boats and jet ski's in the Susqhehanna and Chesapeake Bay. Never salt erosion concerns.

Congrats Beth. I just sold my houseboat and understand your enthusiasm. If I could give you some advice. You said your first order of business was to put gas in it. One thing you should be aware of is that vapors from fuel can build up inside a boat and if not vented properly cause an explosion. I don't say that to scare you, I say it so you are aware to do the proper venting ect. Just ask around the marina and folks will give you common sense info so you don't learn the hard way. Also with winter setting in be careful about your heat source and again, venting so you don't have any carbon monoxide issues. And last, one thing I have learned about boats, don't undo anything the previous owner did until you understand why he did it. I hope this is the beginning of a great liveaboard adventure for you.

Thank you! I'm getting it towed this week to a working marina and will be having the fuel tanks and such completely removed professionally. Not putting gas in it! I heard that this is a River Crus, not River Queen. And there's ZERO information online about them!!!!

Good plan. A good shop should be able to check out the tanks and entire fuel system for abyc/coast guard requirements.

I suggest reading the USCG boatbuilders handbook. It will cover all the requirements of every system in a boat from fuel system to ventilation to wiring to lighting.

Big day for Stevie the houseboat! She's traveling 38 nautical miles from Havre de Grace to Young's Boat Yard in North Point. At the new slip she will have a beautiful view and will be surrounded by knowledgeable people who are also working on their boats. A very cool tidbit of info is that the gentleman named Ant Steward who owns the boat yard is quite famous! He was the first (and still maybe only) person to sail around the world solo in an open boat (no cabin for protection). He started in Capetown, South Africa. Any boating nerds might wanna watch a little documentary on his trek.
