I am not getting spark therefore my motor won't run. someone I thought knew what they were doing test lighted a few electric connections and told me I needed a switch box. Purchased new box installed it to the same result."No Spark" I've read so much now don't know where turn go next. Rectifier, stator coil I'm seeing, can all be it, or combo of them, or hell even all of them. also think I may have connected battery cables up backwards and tried to start it did I short out my new switch box I have no idea??? supposed to take it on vacation this sunday but don't want to keep throwing parts and money at it just don't know where to go next. any help would be greatly appreciated!! thank you.

Stator and rectifier are completely separate from ignition system on your motor. A failure in the charging system does not affect spark.

Get a wiring diaghram for your motor, and test for voltage at the switchbox. The red wire should have +12VDC on it at all times. The white wire next to the red will have +12VDC on it when the ign switch is in the start or run position. Those motors usually have crappy wiring on them by now. What shape is yours in?

If you replaced switchbox and had not fire it possible trigger, nercury kill switch if still hooked up and if connected battery backward it likely got the switchbox and trigger...
