HELLO TO ALL. tHE MOTOR RUNS GREAT BUT i HAVE NO WATER CIRCULATING. eNGINE HAS NOT BEEN RAN FOR OVER 2 YEARS. WHATS THE PROBLEM? THANKS BKR

Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />It needs a water pump rebuild would be my first guess. It's on top of the gearcase. You have to take the gearcase off to access it. But before you do that, look at the color of the powerhead. If it's discolored to tan, it overheated. If it's a pinkish tan, it's probably junk from massive overheating. If it's white like the rest of the motor, you should be okay.

Hello Raisor and welcome to iboats. You will have to remove the lower unit and replace the impeller to start with. If that does not fix it you will have to flush the motor out with water with the Thermostat out. Do you have a service manual? The impeller you will need is a 3084 also refered to as a 18-3084. Hi BKR!! I have just done this on a 1970 20hp chryler, IM not sure if there idenical but that is what it was. It was easy to do. you pull the side cover of on the shift rod side there is a turnbuckel on the shift rod mark it where it is on the threds so you put it back were it was, undo it there unbolt the lower unit and pull it off the motor the water pump is on the drive shaft unscrew it there pull the pump housing off watch the way it is on. I would replace the hole housing and impeller the housing usely is pitted on a motor that old. might be hard to find but i got mine at my local marine. when you put it back together make sure the water tube gose into the housing or it will not work at all. make sure the splines all line up it sould push together smothly (DO NOT TIGHT THE LOWER UNIT BOLTS IF THERE IS A GAP THE SPLINES ARE NOT LINED UP... AND NEVER START OUTBOARDS WITH OUT IT BEING IN THE WATER OR IN A BARREL WITH WATER WELL ABOVE THE WATER INTAKES!! IT WILL MELT YOUR IMPELLER FINS..Hope I helped GOOD DAY and GOD BLess!! GP
