1970 6hp evinrude carb..

whats wrong when you can turn the low speed mixture all the way in and out
and it doesnt change the way it runs {like crap}

packing in the nut, you need a rebuild kit. it is sucking air around the needle. i just ordered one for my 2hp doing the same thing.

Take the needle all the way out and look at the end of it. Does it come to a sharp point or is it flat on the end? If it is flat, it probably has been forced into the seat and the tip broke off. Wouldn't be the first time it has happened and won't be the last.
