1970 40 hp ob running and quit

just crusing down the river and for no apparent reason it quit
now it turns over but won't run
has spark and fuel
any ideas?

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=299680 start at the beginning of trouble shooting. compression and spark test with a tester, should jump atleast 1/2 inch. did it run hot?
