So I just purchased this boat last Friday. I knew that the entire floor and structure needed to be completely replaced. All of the wood was completely rotten from the stern to the bow. So I tore everything out and have since started measurements and cutting of the new floor structure. I don't know all of the terms at this point so bare with me. Unfortunately I could not use any of the old pieces for measurement reference since the old wood was junk and appeared to be done at one point by someone else (not factory built). So since I did buy this boat, I am commited.

Has anyone restored the floor in these boats, and if so what advice do you have to make sure that everything I do with this floor restoration goes smoothly. I am not going to use carpet at all. My plan is to use 3 inch wide oak planks for the top flooring once the base floor is installed and seal it up with a polyurethane coating. I think that it will look fantastic when its done.

So any advice out there?

Welcome to iBoats!
Lots of help here! I would NOT use Oak! It is very heavy and NOT the best for Marine use. Are you wanting to keep a natural wood look when you are finished? Not to many people on here have done that. Most use either marine grade plywood or exterior grade and cover it with polyester or epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth. Do some searches on deck and stringer replacement and you will find all the help you will need.

I'm just sayin...:D
