:welcome: aboard and to the Starmada Jason,

It looks to me like you little tinny was a runabout at some point in it's long life and has been converted to an open bow fishing machine. It should serve you well and as far as flotation foam goes it is a good idea to have it just in case.

So what motor do you have?

On the rub rails the reason they look bad is that the AL is anodized and it takes a beating. Some guys strip them clean and polish the AL while others paint them so that;s up to your eye.

You came to the right place for Starcraft lovers, the FB group has many of us there but some real knotheads too.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I just had it out again yesterday, and it ran very well. I've been getting compliments every time I take it out - especially on the console I built... which feels great! I look at it and I'm not very happy with it... I just didn't have the right tools to sand it down properly, round the edges like I would have liked, etc. but other folks seem to genuinely think it looks great!

I am having a bit of an issue figuring out the Mercontrol... but I will start a thread just for that. I think I may need to adjust the cables a bit or something along those lines.

The motor I have currently is a 1976 Mercury 65HP. It's a bit slow to start, but runs pretty well once you get it going.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!
